How does one celebrate Christmas this year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic? This would probably be one in contemporary history when we are encouraged to celebrate the Christmas season in its essence, in its simplicity. With a focus on the Covid virus, we are preoccupied with guidelines on how to celebrate Christmas this year– with only members of the family who are living in the same household, to continue wearing masks, observe social distancing, or to wash hands frequently.  We are being discouraged from visiting one another for our mutual protection and safety.  The usual Christmas glee and merriment that we have been accustomed to is not possible this year. But our celebration of Christmas should not be dampened by Covid! Let us spread more hope, peace, joy and love this Season! And this is where I am reminded of the birth of our Savior.  The Christmas story is one of simplicity.  Our Lord and Savior was born in a manger with only his mother and father.  ...

The Solution Is Less Pollution.

Many of us care about the city, state, country, continent, and planet we live on, yet we believe that safeguarding the environment requires too much effort. While the only solution to save our planet is a global shift in priorities, even small changes make a difference. You may believe that as a single individual, you cannot have a significant impact on our environment. In truth, individual activities are the source of all important changes. We can protect our environment by saving water, planting trees, clean our surroundings, cleaning up litter, recycling old items, avoiding food waste, using fewer plastic bottles, organic farming, buying items with less packaging, throwing old items in the compost bin, and many other actions are all worthwhile. All that is required is a willingness to contribute to the sustainability of this world. We can help the environment by conserving water, planting trees, cleaning up after ourselves, and recycling. Recycling is a simple, yet effective way of ...

The effectiveness of Modular Modality

Image
I have learned to self study what have been written in the modules and being able to manage the time that I should take for a day. I also realized that it enable us to sacrifice everything that we've been doing for the past few months of being in quarantine. I also realized that self-study was never been easy because a lot of us can't catch up the topics and it makes us stress and unable to work properly due to the low capability of understanding the topic plus the environmental aspects of every students.  The main challenges that the students have encountered are self-studying, poor internet connection, lack of sleep and time to answer all the modules due to the great number of activities, distractions, and lack of focus. Many families are grappling with financial worries, illness, loss, homelessness, and/or food insecurity. Or they may be vulnerable in other ways. Students may no longer have an internet connection, a device to use, or a space to learn in. Some ...

"Towards a COVID-19-resilient Philippines"

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought upon the world with challenges. Almost all countries had to shut down their economies to halt the spread of the virus and the Philippines is one of those countries who have taken strict measures by implementing the Enhanced Community Quarantine on 15 March 2020.  The lockdown did help in controlling the spread of the virus and apparently, the Philippines is already flattening the curve. The number of cases reported in the country is no longer growing at an exponential rate, however, flattening the curve does not necessarily mean that the Philippines is winning its battle against the pandemic. There are other measures to consider to ultimately say that a country is winning the battle.  The PwC Data Analytics team has gathered data and insights locally and around the world to come up with this study. It aims to show other areas that must be considered to know if the country is winning the battle against COVID-19, such as controlling the n...

"Live a life you love"

Image
Everyone is fighting a battle. And a very tough one most of the time.Failure, disappointment, frustration, exhaustion… All these difficult moments can erode our passion for life. But we only live ONCE. It’s important to remind ourselves that no matter how hard life is, we should never lose our love for life as it gives us the energy to keep moving on. No matter who tries to teach you lessons about life, you won’t understand it until you go through it on your own. I am not someone who is ashamed of my past. I’m actually really proud. I know I made a lot of mistakes, but they, in turn, were my life lessons.
